Tuesday's Child Presents:
Gene Yang
Prize-winning author of the graphic novel American Born Chinese.
The Friends of the Lafayette invites "Young Adult" readers to a special
Tuesday's Child event with author and graphic artist Gene Yang. His most
recent graphic novel, American Born Chinese, was a National Book Award
Finalist and was the winner of the acclaimed Gene Printz Award for the
Best Young Adult Fiction. This remarkable book weaves together several
stories, one of a boy who moves from SF's Chinatown to the predominantly
white suburbs, and ultimately comments on the teenage struggles with
fitting in. The library, in partnership with the Oakland Museum of
California, is also proudly exhibiting the original work of Gene Yang,
so come by the library and see his work (it's very cool!) for yourself.
Admission is free.
Author available for signing after the program.

call the library at 925-283-3872.
